MUSIC APPRECIATION SOCIETY

NON PROFIT PROFILE:
Music and other cultural programming will be provided by the non-profit organization, Music Appreciation Society (MAS). Further goals of MAS include educational workshops, master classes, scholarship programs and membership benefits for supporters. MAS website and publicity arm will serve to promote its artists, events and educate the general public and it’s members about music.

The aim of MAS will be to provide an intimate “acoustic” listening experience, featuring multiple genres of music from jazz to bluegrass, vocal and instrumental, world, classical, folk, blues, pop, chamber, guitar and piano concerts. MAS will provide family-friendly, educational, traditional and experimental music programming in the festive lounge environment at Baur’s as well as at other larger venues in Colorado and elsewhere.

ATTENDEE PROFILE:
Music events for discerning music aficionados of all kind and ages. Whenever possible, reserved seating will be provided to patrons near the performers. There will always be general admission tickets for those who wish to stand or be seated in the bar area. Expect an attentive, knowledgable and appreciative audience.

Members and supporters of MAS will have the opportunity to purchase season tickets, advanced purchase and VIP and Patron seating. All performances will be open to the general public as well.

VENUE/EVENT PROFILE:
The historic venue in downtown Denver’s Theater District originally opened in 1872 as a candy emporium. The new music venue at Baur’s will focus on creating a high quality listening experience presenting intimate “un-plugged” performances by nationally and internationally touring artists as well as presenting a selected roster of local artists. The venue has the ability to be broken down into smaller listening rooms for recitals, or larger performance staged concerts or supper club format in a variety of configurations within the main hall, bar and lounge.

High quality casual food and beverage fare and attentive service will be combined with acoustic music to provide a well-rounded evening or daytime experience in one of Colorado’s most historic buildings.

Baur’s and MAS will seek sponsorships with businesses and form alliances with cultural, social, educational  and media organizations to ensure a capacity audience for this special listening / dining / drinking/ social / cultural experience. Denver, Colorado is one of the nations’ fastest growing and most progressive cities with a central location, world class international airport and vibrant exploding music scene.

Artists and their promoters will have the opportunity, if desired, to meet and great fans and attendees, sell merchandise, host fundraisers and make use of the facility for catered rehearsals, meetings, album release parties and showcases in a variety of formats.

All presentations are “open” and will cooperate with all artists and their representation regardless of affiliation.

LOCATION & ACCESSABILITY:
Located in the prominent theater district in downtown Denver with proximity to the Colorado Convention Center, the Denver Performing Arts complex, several convenient luxury hotels, light rail and easy highway access.

The Baur’s Building is listed on the National historic register as a historic candy store, bakery and restaurant – the “inventor of the ice cream soda”, “home of Baur’s est. 1872”. Baur’s is famous among Denver society for celebrating special events, birthdays and has been THE meeting place for the Denver municipal, state, arts and business communities for over 170 years. It was the site of the radio show “Breakfast at Baur’s” hosted by Denver celebrity and author Gene Amole in the ’40s and ’50s.

The kitchen boasts the celebrated hospitality of chef Dory Ford creating international inspired cuisine that is sourced locally as well as from the coasts. The room itself provides amazing natural acoustics, technical support and old-world charm, creating a memorable atmosphere for musical events.

It’s perfect for sipping fine wines, local brews, casual fine dining as well as small bites before or after the show.
